I always tell people who are seeking religion that it is extremely important to put your faith into the right place and grow from there. Particularly to Christians, the bible is a more powerful guide than rules set by churches.
If Christians were to ask why, I would ask them back “Bible writes what God says, whereas any person who teaches still needs to refer to the bible. Bible is first hand information, while the human are second. Which is more accurate?”
Before reading on, have you encounter church or more specifically church cell groups having rules like:
- Compulsory to join cell groups
- No boy girl relationship until the age of 16? 18?
- Boyfriend or Girlfriend must be from the same church cell group or inter cell groups
- No holding of hands for couples
- (Girls) No wearing of short skirts or clothes that reveal cleavage
- Couples must only start living together after marriage
- Venue for Church Wedding, couple must be from the church for 3 or more years
To start of, I only believe in the 10 Commandments from God to Moses in junction with 1 from Jesus to his disciples.
(From DEUTERONOMY 5:6-21)
- You shall have no other gods before me (God himself)
- You shall not make yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven or on the earth or beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them.
- You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God
- Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy
- Honor your father and your mother
- You shall not murder
- You shall not commit adultery
- You shall not steal
- You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor
- You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not set your desire on anything that belongs to your neighbor.
* #4, in today’s context, if everyone stops working on Sunday will cause Chaos especially when no one takes care of the electrical plants, hospital patients needs attention and so on. So rather, obey that every 6 days of work, make sure you rest 1 day to dedicate it to God. Jesus and his disciples did not stop working on Sabbath day in order to save lives and preach which is a form of dedicating time to God. This is further evidenced by Jesus claiming in MATTHEW 12:8 that he is the Lord of the Sabbath.
(From JOHN
A new commandment I give unto you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
To religious understanding, God created the Commandments so the Jews and Muslims/Islam follow a moral code of behavior which is right in God’s eyes. However all of the rules outside the Commandments of God, we can see them as unnecessary. Christian with strong faith and knowledge of God’s word is what is important. For it is written: (From ACTS
If you understand the Commandments from God and obey them, you had already know what is right in God's eyes. What Jesus also described loving God is more important than following the rules blindly, as if you had loved God, you will know what to do it good in his eyes. 2nd he spoke about loving your neighbors (which in the context means people around you) Once you care for the people around you, you will understand what is right to do towards them. Once you understand these scriptures and follow its logic, then all other extra rules outside these Commandments will not be necessary.
