There are a few things to take note about STDs. What is more disturbing is:

1. Not all of them are curable. And not all of them can be protected by condom.
2. Condom is not 100% prove also.
3. Sometimes or a lot of times, people who goes for test and treatment will realize that they did not contact just 1 STD but a few of them at that just 1 night of pleasure.
4. Many of them don’t know as there aren’t any signs or symptoms up to months and had already affected many before they found out.
5. A number can be even spread via Oral Sex
6. That isn’t all, most of the STD if treated late or left untreated has a chance of destroying the fertility of the females via the condition called Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID).

For more statistics after Singapore came out with anonymous HIV testing in 2006:

1. 29 new cases detected every month (with many out there not knowing they are affected)

2. Current expected figure is about 12000 HIV positive in Singapore which only 3000 knows in 2006. (Actual figures is estimated to be x4 of the total amount detected as many of them don’t want to know the results) (http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/printfriendly/0,4139,119380,00.html)

4. Figures are expected to increase over the years

5. 423 Cases detected in 2007 alone.

6. 1^st 6 months of 2008 saw 154 new cases (143 male, 11 female)

7. Majority of Singapore women infected with HIV had contracted it from their husbands or boyfriends. While these women remained faithful to their partners, their partners were not faithful to them.

8. Person affect would appear normal and the visible symptoms can take up 20 years

Putting into religious point of view, STDs introduction into the world has its pros and cons. It did made more people aware not to commit adultery or other practice sexual immorality but to remain faithful to their spouses. However the innocent people who paid the price of it is pretty hard to swallow.
